PROGRAM
PRESCHOOL PREP
The preschool prep program is dedicated to children between the ages of 24 to 30 months transitioning between toddler and preschool classroom.
Your child will enjoy the freedom to move around, learn and work under direction of his teacher. A ratio of 8 to 1 is maintained which allows one-on-one attention for your child. In this program, your child will work towards being diaper free. Once the parents feels the child is ready, the teacher will support them with potty training and work with the parent on maintaining consistency between home and school behaviors. This ensures a positive, accelerated potty training experience.
The materials in the class are Montessori based, and include sensorial, preliminary practical life activities, preliminary math, language and cultural activities which satisfy your child’s need for imitation, work, and order.
These activities are designed to fulfill your child’s curiosity about the real work that they see done by the adults around them. The child finds satisfaction in learning to care for himself as more and more independence becomes possible for him. The activities are designed to provide the child with the skills they need to be successful in our preschool program. The child will scoop, spoon, sort, grasp, make comparisons, and will be introduced to the concept of phonetic sounds and quantities.
Children in the preschool prep class participate in art activities many times a week.
These activities provide a link to the cultural or thematic topic that the children are exposed to during their circle and work time activities. The teachers take time to prepare meaningful activities for the children in the preschool prep program.
The children in this program have many opportunities to practice their large motor skills each day. The children have two scheduled outdoor activity times daily. During this time the children climb, slide, swing, run, ride tricycles and have an opportunity to socialize with their peers. The staff provides instruction and supervision during this time.
Details on your child’s behavior and the activities that your child participated in during the day are provided to you on our daily report.
